D-Link DAP-1860 AC2600 Wi-Fi Range Extender

D-Link DAP-1860 AC2600 Wi-Fi Range Extender extends your Internet connection over a super-fast Gigabit Wireless AC connection. Wireless Protected Setup

Wireless Protected Setup (WPS) makes connecting your D-Link DAP-1860 easy and quick.

Initiate WPS Mode:

  • While the Status light on the D-link extender is blinking amber, push the WPS button on the wireless router or Access Point.
  • Push the WPS button on the DAP-1860. The Status light will start flashing green.
  • It will take approximately two minutes for the process to finish.
  • The light on the extender will turn solid green when the D-Link DAP-1860 has connected successfully to the wireless router or access point.
  • You can even use the WPS method to connect devices to the extended network created by the DAP-1860 extender using the Wi-Fi names. The password will be the same as the wireless network you are extending.

Web Browser Setup

  • Plug the D-Link DAP1860 closer to your router. You can move it to your desired location after configuration.
  • Open the wireless settings on your wireless device or computer.
  • Select the Wi-Fi Network name and enter the password.
  • You may also connect the DAP-1860 to your router or computer using an Ethernet cable.
  • Open a web browser and enter http://dlinkap.local./.
  • Once you connect, the login page will appear. Enter your password and click Log in.
  • The home page will display your current status. You can select your language from the drop-down menu and then click on next.
  • Select the wireless network you want to extend.
  • If your wireless network is secure enter the Wi-Fi password and click next to continue.
  • If you clicked Manual, enter the Wi-Fi name and password of the wireless network you want to extend and click next to continue.
  • Connect the D-Link DAP1860 to your network using an Ethernet cable. Enter a new Wi-Fi network name for the DAP-1860 and enter a new Wi-Fi password.
  • Enter an administrator password for the DAP-1860. The administrator password is used to access internet-based configuration.
  • A summary page will display your settings. Click Finish and the DAP-1860 will reboot. The setup is complete.


  • Plug the extender into a power outlet. The LED on the front will turn red and then after a few seconds will turn orange or green.
  • On the bottom of the extender is a reset pinhole. Using a paperclip, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds or until the light on the front turns red and then.
  • The extender will then reboot and be at factory default settings.
  • Open a web browser and enter http://dlinkap.local in the address bar.
  • Enter your Admin Password.
  • Click on Management and then select Upgrade from the drop-down menu.
    1. Automatic Upgrade - The device will check for new firmware versions automatically. If a new firmware version is found Click on upgrade Firmware to commence the upgrade process.
    2. Manual Upgrade – Download the firmware file from the D-Link website. Click on the Select File button and locate the firmware file you downloaded.
  • The D-Link extender will automatically restart once the firmware upgrade has been completed.
  • Open a web browser and enter http://dlinkap.local in the address bar.
  • Enter your Admin Password in the field provided.
  • Click on Management and then select Admin.
  • Enter a new password in the Admin Password field to change the Administrator password.
  • Click on Save to finalize the settings.
